At the heart of the Tele Vue Enhanced Star Diagonal is a mirror with exclusive aluminum coatings that deliver an outstanding 95-percent surface reflectivity. To stop the coatings from eroding with time and extending the life of the diagonal, the mirror is then over-coated with quartz. Around it is a single, solid block of aluminum that was precision machined to precisely cradle the mirror housing and match all 1.25-inch focusers, filters, and eyepieces. The Tele Vue Enhanced Mirror Diagonal uses a non-marring soft brass compression ring to secure your eyepieces in place, rather than a thumbscrew that contacts the eyepiece barrel directly. Tele Vue thinks safety first, and that's why their Enhanced Mirror Star Diagonal has a channel cut into the outside of the barrel. This extra features performs as a safety stop to keep the diagonal from falling.
